What is Pilates?

 

The Pilates technique is a total body conditioning program designed to develop and

maintain a healthy, supple body.  A strength and flexibility workout, this program

developed by German immigrant Joseph H. Pilates (1880 – 1967) emphasizes the use

of the mind to perfect form and function.  The focus on strengthening the core

muscles of the body results in improved balance and freedom of movement and

alleviates pain.  


The exercises are best practiced in personal training sessions with a qualified

instructor.  Using our superior equipment your instructor will guide you through a

workout tailored to the specific needs of your body.
